Special Insights from Hawks

Spiritual Meaning of Hawk

Do you know the special insights that Hawks carry with them for us humans? Hawks have incredibly keen vision as they glide effortlessly across the sky. In shamanic terms, when you see a Hawk, you are being encouraged to look at the big picture, but to also keep in mind the small details at the same time.   I usually see hawks soaring high above me and catching the air currents with such ease and grace.

Meaning of Perched Hawk

What has happened for me lately is that instead of soaring high above, I am seeing Hawks sitting perched on lampposts.  The first time I observed this, I knew it was a strong message, not only for myself, but for others as well.  The message is to look at our past, shed light on it, and determine what has been working for us and what has not.  We are to let go of what no longer serves us, and place our focus on what helps to lift us up.

As I have continued to notice the sitting hawks over the past few weeks, an even deeper insight has come in for me. I realized that in looking over some past things that were not working for me, I was filled with a lot of judgement and resentment.  This was directed not only towards others, but also to myself. I recognized that this perception was coming from fear instead of coming from a place of love.  Often times, the things that hurt us most, are our biggest teachers in disguise.  It is up to us to look at these events, not with judgement, but instead with compassion, forgiveness and gratitude for helping us to reach our full potential.

Ho’oponopono Prayer

I have been doing some work with the Ho’oponopono prayer on the past hurts and frustrations, because the reality is, the only person we hurt with our resentment is ourselves.  This is the simple exercise that was brought to life by Hawaiian criminal therapist Dr.  Len.  The exercise is comprised of four simple sentences, but they pack a mighty punch.  They are as follows:

  1. I’m sorry
  2. Please forgive me
  3. Thank you
  4. I love you

I know that in my own ego mind on the really difficult situations, when I get to Step 2, my ego starts saying, “Forgive me?  Are you kidding?  It is the other person who needs to say this, not me!”  This is where the work truly begins.  When I can say Step 2 totally from a place of love, compassion and full forgiveness, I help to release this vice grip of resentment that was holding on so tightly and making me miserable.  When we shift from the state of fear to love, the results are often miraculous.

Nature’s Messages

Nature has me in a total state of awe in how accurate the messages are that it shows to me.  The thing is, I just need to be present to all of its wise signs that it shows.  If you are interested in different signs that are being shown to you by nature, this site link is an excellent resource.  http://www.whats-your-sign.com/animal-totems.html  I highly encourage you to use this link, but to also check in with your own inner wisdom to see what the sign means for you.

I would love for you to share whether this message resonated for you.  Also, if you have had signs shown to you from nature that you would like to share or get some insights on, please do.

Sending loads of loving sunshine your way,

Susanne

  1. Oh thank you so much for this confirmation Susanne. I too have been drawn back to the hooponopno. Everytime a judgment comes up about someone I have been repeating the prayer.

Feeling such a peace around it.

Thank you for this great writing and insight.

    Much peace,
    Wesley

  2. Thanks for sharing your wise insights, Susanne! It is so inspiring and helpful to know we are not going through this “stuff” alone. And there is an intelligent wisdom there for us to tap into. Sending love your way… Deb 🙂
