In memory of Dr. Wayne Dyer, Hay House is offering for a limited time a FREE viewing of The Shift. I kept hearing from numerous people that I needed to watch this movie, so I knew it was a sign to do just that and so I did last night.
It is a two hour movie and I would like to share some of the highlights with you. It was very surreal to watch and I am sure it will be deeply treasured by all of Wayne’s family members. At the very beginning of the movie he shares the following quote, “At the morning what was true, in the evening will become a lie.” Wow, that was a thought provoking statement for me.
There are various stories woven in and out of the filming to help support Wayne’s philosophies. There is one family where the mom has the weight of being a super mom on her shoulders. When she told her young son to get off his video games because they were going to be unplugged in their weekend away, her son said, “I don’t even know what that means “unplugged”. The mom says, “That is a very sad commentary on our life.” I feel that this statement is very true for many.
Wayne stated that the purpose of our life is to be happy and to be present. He said that one of the ways to be happy is to return to nature. That statement resonated deeply with my soul as tears streamed down my face. The filming also did an excellent job of capturing the magic that is ever present in nature,.
Wayne went on to say how each of us are perfect divine creations. He said the problem is that our ego gets in the way. We live in a culture that emphasizes more, and the more you have, the more you get consumed with protecting it and wanting to make more to get more. It is a vicious treadmill to be on. Many of us define ourselves through:
- What we have
- What we do
- What others think of us (especially women)
- Seperation from everything else
- Seperation from God/Source/Creator (or whatever you feel comfortable calling it)
Quantum Shift moments were defined as needing 4 key elements:
- Vivid occurrence
- Benevolent – feels good
- Enduring – lasts with you forever
He explained a Quantum moment came for him at 4:05 a.m. in the morning when he awoke and decided that he wouldn’t drink anymore due to an event that had occurred. Upon making that decision, he smelled beautiful roses and felt a huge sense of peace wash over him.
There are those of us who are now moving into the afternoon of our life. In this phase we start asking ourselves how we move into the meaning phase of life. Winning takes a back seat to living on purpose. We start being guided by something higher than ourselves. When we go through the low points of our life, it serves its purpose by helping to propel ourselves to a higher place.
He spoke about how in the Tao it encourages all to be soft, flexible, not always in control. To let yourself be lived by it. Letting go and letting god. Letting Source perform its magic. To me, it reminded me of how nature teaches each of us to be in the flow.
He shared a study done on Quantum Shifts and also compared men to women:
BEFORE a Quantum Shift this is what was ranked with the highest importance:
- Wealth Family
- Adventure Independence
- Achievement Career
- Pleasure Fitting In
- Respected Attractiveness
AFTER a Quantum Shift, this is how the rankings changed:
- Spirituality Own personal growth (tired of looking after others – put self first)
- Personal Peace Sense of self esteem
- Family Spirituality
- Purpose Happiness
- Honesty/Authenticity Forgiveness
After a Quantum shift, you just need to show up, pay attention and then the music happens. Whatever you are looking for will show up. Prepare and then let go. One just needs to trust that everything will happen perfectly. There are no accidents and we need to become observant to the synchronicities that occur around us each and every day. When we move into this meaning phase, we need to become the observer and step back from our life, detach from the outcome and just allow things to show up. We are here to enjoy life and to be living in peace.
The 4 Virtues of Lao Tzu were shared:
- Reverence for all of life – Respect
- Sincerity (Honesty)
- Gentleness (Kindness)
- Supportive (Service) Upon talking about service, this quote by Hafiz was shared, “Even after all this time the sun never says to the earth, you owe me.”
It is important for us to understand all of this while we are here on this earth. We shouldn’t have to die to “get it“. Our purpose is to ask how may I serve and that could look many different ways. The Shift is connecting to the energy. It is to move from entitlement to humility. It is a place deep within us that wants to leave this place a little better than we found it. Don’t pass away with your song left inside of you.
I truly believe that is the key. Each of us is our own guru and we need to look deep inside ourselves for the answers that are already there to our questions. We need to be present and in the flow. We need to rise to shine our light brightly.
The quote from Faery Desiderada in my award winning book, The ABC Field Guide to Faeries, sums this all up beautifully:
“We are all only dancing on this earth a short time,
So be sure to dance with a happy song in your mind.
Dance loudly, dance strongly to the heavens above,
But most of all, dance with your heart full of love.”
May each of us dance to a song that stirs our soul at its deepest level. May we shine out with our unique, magnificent, unending light.
